Using Secured https:// Connections

Secured https:// connection is crucial in an open environment such as internet-café, airports and hotels where the network transmission are usually unprotected. Without https://, anyone can monitor your internet traffic and extract sensitive information such as passwords or your banking details.

You only have to install the Arkserve CA certificate once for each machine and browser you intended to connect securely to this website.

Different web browsers use different process to install certificates. This page lists the procedures for the more common web browsers: Firefox, Chrome, MISE Internet Explorer, Opera & Safari.

For other browsers, please google search for "[your-browser-name] install CA certificate". They should accept one of the following certificate formats: CRT, PFX or CER.

After installing the certificate, we recommend that you change your shortcut to this website to https:// so that communication between this website and your browser is always protected.

Please keep your browser up-to-date. Always use the latest version

Firefox (all OS)

  1. Click on the link to get the certificate -> ark_pca2.crt.
  2. On popup, check all the boxes and click "OK".

Google Chrome (all OS)

    Chrome uses the certificates installed via IE (Windows), Safari (MacOS) or NSS (Linux).

    If you prefer to install using Chrome on Windows or MacOS, you can start the Chrome browser and follow the steps listed for IE (Windows) or Safari (MacOS) to install the certificate.

    For Linux, run the following commands:

    $ sudo apt-get install libnss3-tools
    $ wget -O ark_pca2.crt "http://arkserve.com/sys/doc/ssl/ark_pca2.crt"
    $ certutil -d sql:$HOME/.pki/nssdb -A -t TC -n "Arkserve CA" -i ark_pca2.crt

Internet Explorer 10+ (Windows)

    IMPORTANT: Internet Explorer before version 10 have incomplete or non-compliant support for internet browsers standards. We *support only* Internet Explorer version 10 or later.

  1. Click on the link to get the certificate -> ark_pca2.pfx.
  2. When prompted select the "open" option to start the Certificate Import Wizard.

  3. For the next few options screens, just click "Next" to go forward...

  4. And finally click "Yes" to install the certificate.

  5. Click "OK" to close the Certificate Import Wizard.

Opera (all OS)

  1. Click on the link to get the certificate -> ark_pca2.crt.
  2. On popup, click "Install".

  3. Click "OK" to confirm.

Safari (MacOS)

  1. Click on the link to get the certificate -> ark_pca2.cer.
  2. Save the file to your desktop (filename ark_pca2.cer).
  3. Double-click the desktop "ark_pca2.cer" file to launch the Keychain Access application.
  4. Approve the fingerprint, then select "X509Anchors" from the Keychain drop-down list.
  5. Click "OK".

    You may be asked to enter the administrator username and password. Click "OK" and after successful authentication, the certificate will be installed.

  6. Delete the desktop "ark_pca2.cer" file.

Safari (iOS)

  1. Click on the link to get the certificate -> ark_pca2.cer.
  2. Choose to install the certificate as a trusted root CA.
  3. Choose "Install Now" to create the profile.

Safari (Windows)

    Safari on Windows uses the certificates installed via IE (Windows).

    If you prefer not to use IE, you can start the Safari browser and follow the steps listed for IE to install the certificate.
